摘要

The purpose of this grant was to purchase a reconditioned 400 MHz Fourier Transform (FT) NMR instrument. Since the installation and training period, the NMR has been used for a number of courses (Analytical Chemistry, Advanced Inorganic Chemistry, Instrumental Analysis, Student Independent Projects and Undergraduate Research Projects). Laboratory experiments using the NMR have been developed to study and characterize organic and inorganic/ organometallic chemicals, biochemical metabolites and in undergraduate research investigating new nanotechnology materials. NMR spectroscopy is an essential technique in the undergraduate chemistry curriculum and we plan to expand the use of this instrument in the curriculum and in the individual chemistry lab courses.
