THE DESIGN OF APPARATUS FOR THE EVALUATION OF HYDRAULIC BRAKE FLUIDS

A test apparatus designed at B.H.R.A. is described, together with the test procedure for evaluating the stroking properties of hydraulic brake fluids both of the vegetable and mineral based types. It is usual in hydraulic brake systems to use a veg¬etable base oil together with natural rubber compon¬ents, however in one series of tests synthetic rubber components of the BUNA, Nitrile and Neoprene type were used in conjunction with a mineral based oil.nA typical set of experimental results is also given.
