摘要

The effects of pressure in the airway and of hyperventilation, hypoventilation, and operative position have been studied on 41 mongrel dogs. Anesthesia consisted of intravenous pentobarbital. Succinylcholine and additional increments of pentobarbital were administered during those experiments in which controlled ventilation was used. The animals were secured on a rotatable table which permitted changes in position without disturbing the preparations. The preparation consisted of a tracheotomy and insertion of a tracheal divider which permitted selective ventilation of each lung. Femoral arterial cannulation was done, and right ventricular cannulation effected via the femoral vein.
