This test was conducted at Bacchus Works, Hercules Powder Company, between 20 May 1963 and 21 June 1963, The test was conducted to determine the structural integrity of the mounting pad and adhesive system for the retro-rocket system when subjected to a shear load, simulating flight and firing loads. Although the flight environmental temperature of the ad¬hesive system will be between 100 and 120 F, there is very little dif-ference in the adhesive strength at these temperatures and 80 F; therefore, the test was conducted at approximately 80 F. The test method used induced a small bending moment into the pad and adhesive system.nA total of three cases, P515Y.03, P615Y.03, and P615.04, and 10 pads were used in this test. Case P615Y.04 had four pads bonded to it, and P515Y.03 and P615Y.04 each had three pads bonded to them. This represents five pads bonded with Armstrong A12T adhesive, four bonded with Shell Epon 937, and one pad bonded with Dow Corning Q-2-0103-2.
