The ultimate purpose of this paper is to show how the problem of diffraction by an infinite (lossless) dielectric wedge is solved, no matter what the angle of the wedge may be.nThe incident field is homogeneous and of degree -1, the equations goveming the propagation of disturbances both inside the prism and in its surrounding, and the conditions to be enforced at the surface are all homogeneous.nThese integrals contain unknown weighting functions which must be analytic functions of the integration parameter in a certain domain, and it is the calculation of these functions which involves some interesting applications of the theory of complex variables.
