Bearing in mind the economics of insecticide spraying of cereal crops, the greatest cost to the grower is that of aerial spraying where ground spraying is impracticable. For this reason it is preferred to keep application rates at a reasonable level, for no good purpose can be achieved by reducing application costs at the expense of low¬ering the insecticide rate of usage. It is in the Aircraft Industry's interest to pro¬vide a flying service at an economic rate where large acreages are involved, rather than to create a position whereby the rate of application is reduced as a means of bringing the per-acre costs down to a practical level in the eyes of the producers, who, after all, are paying for the crop spraying, regarding it as an investment on an already considerable outlay.
