The process is accomplished in an atmos¬phere of nitrogen. For completeness of the polymerization the polymer is after radiation heated up to 100°C. Changing the dose of radiation enables one to regulate the degree of the crystallinity. With increase in the dose from 2 to 10 M the content of the crystalline phase goes down and the polymer turns out completely amorphous. The extraction of the polymer is effected by treating the product of radiation with a solution for the monomer (hot benzene, methanol, etc.). The polymer has a softening temperature of 290-330°C, it is not soluble, and it does not swell in most industrial solvents. It is soluble in dimethylformamide and carbon disulfide.
