Optimal allocation of limited resources can be expressed as a mathematical programming problem when optimization is defined as the maximization (minimization) of a specified output function,subject to the resource limitations. The paper describes a method for solving a large class of nonlinear programming problems: i. e.,resource-allocations problems where one or more of the constraints or the objective function is a nonlinear function of the involved variables.
