On a Characterization of the Bohr Group

The paper contains two main theorems. Theorem I characterizes the Bohr group topologically, and Theorem II gives a group structure on the maximal ideal space B of the almost periodic functions. The space B along with its topology becomes a topological group. A conjecture due to Hewitt is settled as a consequence of Theorem I. (Author)
