THE ANATOMY OF TURKISH CITIES: A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF LAND USE IN SIX MEDIUM-SIZED URBAN PLACES.

摘要

This study examines the broad urban setting of Turkey. On the basis of representativeness in regional location,age population changes,and functional characteristics,six medium-sized cities--Antalya, Adapazari, Aydin, Diyarbakir, Elazig,and Kayseri--are selected for detailed study. A short summary of their history,site,and situation is given. After a standardized method of delimitation was applied to each city to obtain comparability,systematic comparisons are made on three aggregate features of size,shape,and land use composition.
