摘要

The discrete-element static structural analysis program SABOR 5 has been applied to analyze several structural configurations consisting of single-layer and/or bonded double-layer shell-of-revolution structures. This experience resulted in various improvements to the SABOR 5 program. The effects on SABOR 5 predictions of the structural behavior of typical configurations, resulting from choosing a variety of alternate plausible discrete-element modelings, particularly for structural-joint and/or constraint regions of the structure where several adjacent layers exist, is investigated and illustrated. Also studied is the sensitivity of the predicted behavior of statically-loaded typical shell configurations to various types of simplified structural discrete-element modelings and support-point modelings, selected structural thickening near support points, variations in material properties of isotropic shell layers and bonds and/or of orthotropic shell layers, and skew orientation of orthotropic shell-layer material, all in the context of applying the SABOR 5 program.
