Determination of Processing Requirements for High Strength Titanium Alloy Tubing Manufacture.

Tubing produced ranged from 1in. OD x .083in. wall to 3/8in. OD x .016in. wall. Tubing evaluation included room and elevated temperature tensile properties,and elevated temperature burst and stress-rupture properties up to 800F. Candidate alloys from which the Ti-6Al-4V ELI composition was selected included Ti-5Al-2.5Sn ELI,Ti-8Al-1Mo-1V,and Ti-13V-11Cr-3Al. The alloy selection resulted from preliminary manufacturing of all four alloys into tubing. (Author)
