摘要

A study was made of the effect of particle impact surface pre-treatment (grit blasting) on the bonding of steel surfaces using a structural adhesive. Mild steel and stainless steel cylinders were prepared for bonding by eighteen different methods of grit blasting and three methods of chemical pre-treatment. The cylinders were then bonded two by two coaxially using an epoxy film adhesive cured at 100 - 108degrees C. The influence of different abrasive powders,nozzle pressures and angles of incidence between the jet and the adherend surface,on the joint strengths produced,was measured by stressing the joints in shear and in tension.
