摘要

The objective of this research was to determine if the leadership styles of managers and specialists working in United States Air Force weapon system program offices differ among the phases of the weapon system acquisition life cycle. The research population consisted of military and civilian managers and specialists working in thirteen weapon system program offices, each identified with a particular phase of the weapon system acquisition life cycle. For purposes of comparison, phases of the weapon system acquisition life cycle were grouped into conceptual/validation, full-scale development, and production/deployment categories. The Leadership Opinion Questionnaire (LOQ), which measures leadership dimensions of Consideration and Structure, was the instrument through which data were obtained. Statistical analyses were based upon the LOQ scores of 182 respondents from the three categories: Conceptual/validation - 22; full-scale development - 80; production/deployment - 80.
