The purpose of this study is to help decision makers determine future water resource needs of the Delaware River Basin area and ways of meeting these needs. This report, undertaken in 1975 for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers by an independent consultant firm, describes the natural features of the study area, land use, employment, and population trends. A chapter in this volume focuses on the average annual flood damages of the area and reviews the existing flood damage reduction needs in the Delaware Basin. Water supply and water consumption for the Basin is also analyzed both for residential and industrial needs. Existing water supplies were inventoried and projections made to the year 2025. The most significant water supply need in the basin is found to be the flow necessary to prevent serious salinity intrusion in the Delaware Estuary. (Author)
