Life Cycle Time and Cost Estimates for Squad Automatic Weapon System Candidates.

This report documents for future reference the steps taken to prepare Life Cycle Cost and Schedule Estimates for the Squad Automatic Weapon System (SAWS) Program. All costs are given in FY75 dollars. The body of the report addresses a program which remains in Advanced Development from FY75 until FY77. The period encompassing FY77, FY78 and FY79 is the time frame for Engineering Development. This is followed by a 12 month Limited Production period and a subsequent Full Scale Production period. The Appendix gives the detailed Cost and Schedule Estimates from which the final Trade Off Determinations and Program Costs were derived. Five weapon mechanism concepts and six types of ammunition are approached in a variety of combinations. (Author)
