The Initiation Phase of Experimental Acute Renal Failure: An Evaluation of Uranyl Nitrate-Induced Acute Renal Failure in the Rat.

Marked alterations in renal hemodynamics, glomerular filtration rate and tubular fluid reabsorption after uranyl nitrate induced acute renal failure in the rat have been described. To evaluate a possible role for tubuloglomerular feedback in the initiation phase of uranyl nitrate induced acute renal failure determinations of distal tubule (Na+), juxtaglomerular apparatus and plasma renin activities were obtained.
