A team of field personnel from air traffic and airways facilities conducted an impact assessment of the projected implementation of the Electronic Tabular Display Subsystem (ETABS) at air route traffic control centers. They further developed alternatives which could be expected to reduce or eliminate the negative consequences identified which could result from ETABS implementation. Six impact areas are addressed. These are: 1. Impact on the workforce. 2. Technological considerations. 3. Implementation. 4. Operations. 5. Training. 6. Logistics support. Conclusions and recommendations as to the most desirable alternative solutions from a field viewpoint are presented. (Author)
