Application of Electroanalgesia Current for the Relief of Orofacial Pain

The above titled project began in 1970 as an investigation of the potential pain relieving and wound healing qualities of electric currents. At this time the literature abounded with reports of the beneficial effects of electric current applied for both purposes. Our laboratory elected to carefully evaluate these effects utilizing methods and models that lended themselves not only to qualitative observation but to the collection of quantitative data that would stand the rigors of statistical analysis. The following should suffice to outline our attempts to define the effect of the application of Electroanalgesic (E.A.) current for the control of oro-facial pain and to develop a system that would produce maximum effects.
