User's Manual for the AFSATCOM Terminal Upgrades Life Cycle Cost Model. Volume I

A computerized Life Cycle Cost (LCC) Model has been adapted for the AFSATCOM Terminal Upgrades (ATU) Program from the Strategic Satellite System LCC Model. The ATU LCC Model is tailored for this program in its structuring of terminal equipment and in the particular trade-off analyses which it supports. The Model emphasizes system support costs and design related cost drivers such as reliability and installation. A capability to study the cost trade-offs between fault isolation using built-in test equipment and using peculiar support equipment is included. The Model also considers three-level maintenance philosophies which include centralized intermediate maintenance facilities.
