Leadership as a Force Multiplier: The Joshua L. Chamberlain Example

Civil War general Joshua L. Chamberlain, selected by TRADOC as the leadership model in the new (draft) FM 22-100, is shown to meet the Clausewitzian criteria for military genius; he exemplifies courage, strength of body and soul, sensitive and discriminating judgement, skilled intelligence, intellect (to include presence of mind and imagination), determination, and character.
