Plausibility Functions of Iowa Vocabulary Test Items Estimated by the Simple Sum Procedure of the Conditional P.D.F. Approach

Simple Sum Procedure of the Conditional P.D.F. Approach was applied for estimating the plausibility functions of the distractors of the Iowa Vocabulary Test items. In so doing, the normal ogive model was adopted for the correct answers of those items, and those items were used as the substitute for the Old Test. The group of subjects consists of 2,364 students who took the Level 11 tests in 1971 through 1977. The results indicate the existence of informative distractors for certain test items. The model validation study accompanied to it indicates that for most items the normal ogive model is suitable.
