摘要

At its sixty-ninth meeting the Structures and Materials Panel held a conferenceof Specialists, to review developments in NDE-NDI applicable to the major components and assemblies in airframes, engines and their sub-assemblies. Users' needs and priorities were discussed with emphasis on identification of the constraints that present-day NDE-NDI methods impose on the activities of aircraft designers/manufacturers, airworthiness authorities and aircraft operators. The methods available for the characterisation and control of materials and processes were examined and current developments in techniques for improved reliability and in-service inspection were assessed. In a final season, research studies in both physical and analytical methods were reviewed.
