Evaluation of Devices for Removing Attached Rhipicephalus Sanguineus (Acari:Ixodidae). (Reannouncement with New Availability Information)

Three types of forceps and a commercially available device, the Tick Solution,were used to remove brown dog ticks (Rhipicephalus sanquineus) from dogs. The tick Solution proved least effective at removing ticks requiring significantly more removal attempts compared to forcep removal methods. Medium-tipped angled forceps provided the best overall performance. Other advantages and disadvantages of the devices are discussed. Brown dog tick, Forceps, Removal Devices, Dogs.
