In 1994, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers contracted with the ArcheologyLaboratory, Augustana College, Sioux Falls, South Dakota (Contract No. DACW45-94-P-1335), to complete the analyses of recovered materials and a detailed analytical report of the 1984 salvage excavations conducted at the Lower Grand site (39C014) located near Mobridge, South Dakota. In 1984, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers undertook the excavation of a series of five cache pits exposed through lake bank erosion along the east edge of the site.
