Laboratory studies were undertaken to evaluate the LC50 and relative toxicity of some new generation insecticides to the pupae of the egg parasitoid, Trichogramma chilonis Ishii, along with chlorpyriphos 20% EC as standard check. Chlorpyriphos 20% ECwas the most toxic (LC50 - 0.0D0058%), followed by tolfenpyrad 15% EC (0.000146%) whereas, rynaxypyr 20% SC was the least toxic (0.59267%) followed by flubendiamide 20% SG (0.47233%) and imidacloprid 17.8% SL (0.03613%). No significant difference was observed in the toxicity of Clorpyriphos 20% EC and tolfenpyrad 15% EC, and rynaxypyr 20% SC and flubendiamide 20% SG. On the basis of LC50 values and field recommended doses of the insecticides, chlorpyriphos and tolfenpyrad were considered as extremely toxic whereas, rynaxypyr, flubendiamide and imidacloprid were recognized as exceptionally safe to the parasitoid.
