Oil supply outlooks - the quest for greater clarity

In February, the El hosted a high level, private workshop over two days on oil supply prospects. It brought together senior representatives of academia, industry and governments, with the aim of promoting better understanding of the reasons for different outlooks from the various experts and their significance for the formulation of policy, including whether there were significant information gaps to be filled. Organised by the El in partnership with the Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC), and with the support of Ernst and Young, the meeting examined the areas of consensus as well as disagreement, and explored the drivers for global forecasting and modelling, such as the impact of economic policy, of new technology and of energy policies.
