New Nabucco challenges

Last May, Petroleum Review reported on the progress of negotiations between Nabucco pipeline project coordinators and the four EU transit countries, and the obstacles raised by Turkey to the realisation of the 3,000-km pipeline that could deliver up to 31bn cm/y of natural gas to Europe from Central Asia and the Middle East. Here, Mojgan Djamarani highlights the dramatic developments on the international political and financial scene since the summer of 2008, which have posed new challenges that could put the future of the project in serious doubt.
