Specialty crop coalition at 'square zero' in talks with BASF, Monsanto over dicamba

Monsanto and BASF have not held talks with one of the main stakeholder groups seeking to limit off-target damage caused by dicamba use on new herbicide-tolerant crops, and efforts to resolve concerns between the two sides are at "square zero," the chairman of the Save Our Crops Coalition said last week. The companies are partners; with Monsanto developing the seeds and BASF providing the dicamba formulations, in an effort to roll out new crops that are genetically modified to be tolerant to both dicamba, an older herbicide, and glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup.
