Many areas of Texas are facing a drought and, if this drought continues during harvest, those producers with pecan weevil could be at risk from infestations caused by late-emerging adults. In the graphs that accompany this article, one shows the normal emergence pattern of adult pecan weevils when emergence is not impeded by drought hardened soils and the other shows emergence under drought conditions. Pecan weevils can infest pecans up to shucksplit and harvestable crops will need to be monitored and protected up to shucksplit.
