ALL CHANGE: BUILDING A NEW TERMINAL IS A MASSIVE UNDERTAKING - AND SO IS SHIFTING OPERATIONS TO IT OVERNIGHT

The new Terminal 3 at Malaga Airport is now a reality. With an area of 250,000m~2, 86 check-in desks, 12 parking positions and 20 boarding gates, the new building went into service on 16 March 2010. A day earlier HM King Juan Carlos presided over the inauguration of the new airport terminal. With this new building Malaga airport will be able to handle 30 million passengers a year, compared with 12 million now. The new building is part of a large airport expansion project that will culminate in the coming years with the entry into service of a new runway. The same team at INECO that collaborated with Aena in putting into operation Terminal 4 at Madrid-Barajas Airport in 2006 and more recently Barcelona Airport's Terminal 1, has been involved in this project for over three years.
