Shrimp, salmon catches (and prices) disappoint

OREGON PINK SHRIMP landings have reached about 10.5 million pounds though July, up a little over 2006 but below the 15-year average, according to Bob Hannah at the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. Hannah says that groundfish bycatch has been reduced to very low levels by the use of mandatory bycatch reduction devices. WASHINGTON PINK SHRIMP landings reached 1.1 million pounds as of mid-August, according to Lorna Wargo, coastal shellfish/marine fish biologist at the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife.
