JULY 20 - While in Porpoise Channel near Prince Rupert, the Canadian gillnetter Barrier Rock reported a fire onboard. The three crew members abandoned ship and jumped into the water. There were two survivors; the third is missing. JULY 22 - The F/V Irene's Way, 40 miles off San Francisco, notified the Coast Guard at 9 a.m. that one of their crew had been hit by a cable line as he was reeling in a fishing net, and he was suffering from a sore neck. By 10 a.m., the man was having difficulty breathing and was slipping in and out of consciousness.
