Who would've thunk it? Was a time that commercial fishermen wouldn't be caught dead near a chum salmon. But today, the lowly chum is finding new consumers, and that demand has translated into higher dock prices for fishermen from Alaska to Washingtonstate. In Puget Sound, chum has become THE salmon fishery for many fishermen. "Five years ago, we didn't even have buyers for our fish," said gillnetter Pete Knutson, president of the Puget Sound Harvesters Association.
