Knowing what your competitors are eating

A longstanding question in Alaska marine science is why are Steller sea lion populations declining in some places and not in others? To figure that out, scientists are examining a broader question: What's going on with the sea lion's ecosystem? Amongthose research efforts is the Gulf Apex Predator-Prey Project (GAP), a University of Alaska Fairbanks research program focused on coastal waters and their inhabitants northeast of Kodiak Island.
