In their first few weeks of operating the 75-year-old Stockton's Paint store in Bellingham, Wash., Chris and Casey Gordziel made all sorts of finds. Within the old building was an antique scale and weights; a 1970s newspaper ad, publicizing a store clearance sale, with paint at $4 a gallon and wallpaper at less than 99 cents a roll; and a sandwich board announcing a tea with the first owner. The couple also found an original store businesscard. "What makes it even more special is the phone number on the card is just 1-2-3,' " Casey reported. "Also we have DuPont color chip books for automotive (paints) that represent colors from the 1950s," she continued. "That is raretoday, and we consider these books a treasure."
