Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn in March signed legislation requiring all companies that do business in his state—including online retailers—to collect sates tax from customer purchases and to remit it to the Illinois Department of Revenue (IDOR). Called the Mainstreet Fairness Bill, the legislation passed both houses of the General Assembly with overwhelming support.
