In 2011, Adrienne Wannamaker purchased Chromatix, a paint supply store in Portland, Oregon, and reinvented the business as Brush & Trowel. "We transitioned to architectural finishes because no one really had a showroom for them," said Wannamaker. "We wanted to expose people to the architectural creativity they hadn't really seen before."
