摘要

The reduction in the load of pollutants or level of chemical oxygen demand (COD) in textile effluent using upflow anaerobic sludge blanket, batch and anaerobic baffle reactors has been investigated. The total COD reduction achieved by anaerobic treatment technology is 53, 67 and 87.5% in upflow anaerobic sludge blanket, batch and anaerobic baffle reactor respectively. Various factors like pH, temperature, nutrients have been controlled before feeding textile effluent to the reactors, Nitrogen and phosphorous are provided at the rate of 200 mg/1 in feed solution in the form of urea and ammonium dihydrogen orthophosphate. The active bacteria required for degradation is provided by seed material in the form of digested sewage sludge (DSS).
