Over the last 20-30 years ceramic processing technology has developed enormously. While ceramic building products used to undergo a firing process lasting hours and days, firing times of under an hour for fast-fired tiles are the norm today. If we compare the further development of shaping technologies for the casting process, modern pressure casting processes in polymer moulds contrast with slip casting in plaster moulds. The further development of extruders and the associated die-making now enables the production of extremely filigree catalytic converter geometries with web thicknesses in the range of 10 micrometres.
