Anyone can be a manager, but only a vital few become leaders. This article defines a process for creating emerging workforce leaders. Comprehensive business leader preparation can be achieved through a new approach called the Business Leader Evolution Process (BLEP), developed by the authors.Business leaders actively manage change and are experts at managing multiple tasks concurrently. The basic premise of this article is that only a critical few, through careful planning and execution; years of education, experience, contacts, network building, and interpersonal relations; and work in organizations and associations, etc., does one "evolve" to be a recognized leader, in standardization or in business.
