The U.S. steel market will continue to grow in 2001 as the economy fuels construction and manufacturing. Steel buyers will benefit from intense competition between U.S. steel producers and imported steel while the U.S. producers struggle with illegally dumped steel. Industry-specific Internet tools will be used more to conduct business.However, supply and prices are likely to fluctuate significantly next year because of the combined interaction of the energy market, imported steel issues, and the slowdown in economic growth.
