摘要

Between January 18 and March 112009 British and Malaysian cavers based atCamp 5 in the Gunung Mulu national parkexplored over 27km of new passage in twohills, Gunung Benarat and Gunung Api.Over 24km was explored and surveyed inWhiterock Cave, part of the ClearwaterSystem in Api, while in Benarat 2.5km wasexplored in Hole of the Moon. Scientificwork was undertaken, collecting samplesof speleothems and sediments, and takingmeasurement of scallops and cobbles. TheClearwater System was extended from11th longest in the world at 151km, to175.7km (8th longest in the world at thetime of discovery), and is almost certainlythe largest cave in the world by volume.
