摘要

Cutting propagation is frequently used in the commercial production of ornamental foliage crops. Root-promoting products for cutting propagation commonly contain the auxins indole-3-butyric acid (IBA), 1-naph-thaleneacetic acid (NAA), or a combinationof the two. Treatment of cuttings with a basal quick-dip in liquid auxin formulations is generally the preferred method of application. Governmental regulations generally mandate employee safety training prior to the use of root-promoting chemicals anduse of personal protective equipment during the preparation and use of these chemicals. Process modifications that permit a reduction in the time required to apply these root-promoting chemicals may result not only in cost savings, but also an increase in employees' sense of comfort and safety.
