Hydrothermal synthesis and characterization of two new three-dimensional open-framework gallophosphates JGP-n (n=8, 9) constructed from inorganic layers and HPO4 tetrahedra

Two new 3D gallophosphate compounds Ga4P5O22H5.[C5N2H16] (named JGP-8) and Ga5P6O26H2.[C3N2H12](2).H3O (named JGP-9) have been synthesized hydrothermally by using organic amines as the template. They are characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), elemental analysis, inductively coupled plasma (ICP) and TGA analysis and structurally determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. JGP-8 crystallizes in the orthorhombic, space group Pbcn (No. 60), with a = 25.158(5) Angstrom, b = 9.054(2) Angstrom, c = 10.166(2) Angstrom, V = 2315.6(8) Angstrom(3) and Z = 4. The 3D anionic framework of JGP-8 is constructed from the inorganic layers and HPO4 tetrahedra, in which the inorganic layers consist of a repetition of novel Ga2P2O10 single four-rings (S4Rs). JGP-9 crystallizes in the triclinic, space group P-1 (No. 2), with a = 8.642(2) Angstrom, b = 9.510(2) Angstrom, alpha = 10.050(2) Angstrom, alpha = 117.22(3)degrees, beta = 93.83(3)degrees, gamma = 90.28(3)degrees, V = 732.3(3) Angstrom(3) and Z = 1. The 3D anionic framework of JGP-9 is built up from the inorganic layers and HPO4 tetrahedra, in which the inorganic layers consist of a repetition of enneameric Ga-5(PO4)(4)O-6 structural fragments.(C) 2004 Elsevier SAS.
