IISI-35 Annual Conference, Seoul, Korea, Cancelled for Security Reasons

Ian Christmas, secretary general of the International Iron and Steel Institute (IISI), announced that the 35th Annual IISI conference and annual general meeting that was to be held in Seoul, South Korea on Oct. 7-10, 2001, is cancelled because of the uncertain security situation following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks in the US. "We believe it is not prudent to place our members in a difficult situation in the event of military action occurring somewhere before or during the Seoul conference. Furthermore, since the AGM is to discuss and approve important changes to IISI, the participation of as many members as possible is desirable," Mr. Christmas said.
