POLLUTION PREVENTING SYSTEM FOR DRUM ROASTING CASHEW PROCESSING UNITS

摘要

Atmospheric pollution is one of the major problems with drum roasting cashew processing units in India. The national pollution board has stopped the working of many such units in many states. As cashew processing units employ a large number of women,closure of processing units will adversely affect their livelihood. It is estimated that about 5 lakh workers, 90% of whom are women, are currently employed in cashew processing units all over India. Apart from the environmental pollution, the cashew shell liquid (CNSL) being corrosive, can cause health hazards when in comes in contact with hands or other parts of the body.
