Loss of settings in Garbage Reminder

I built the Garbage & Recycling Reminder project from the January 2013 edition. It worked well for about 18 months but then stopped working. Tests revealed that the battery was flat so I replaced it, fully expecting it to work for next week's rubbish. Sadly this was not to be. It seems it loses its programming when the battery is replaced and I had to do it all over again.
