Modeling and Visualization Based on Morphological Features of Leaf Vein

Simulation of leaf is one of the most important modeling methods for plant both in modeling and visualization, while leaf vein is one of the most important basic morphological characteristics. In this paper, modeling of camphor leaf is taken as an example, which is presented that based on morphological characteristic of leaf veins. According to both of its geometric edge characteristics and morphological characteristics, they have been studied and an overall modeling has been built too. In our study, the feature points of edge contours of camphor leaf have been selected out, firstly. Secondly, the bi-cubic Bezier curve surface was utilized to do a geometrical feature modeling for camphor leaf's edges. Then, several methods, such lighting, projective transforming and rendering, were applied to form the camphor leaf's model. Finally, the system of L-iterated function was used to establish the vein morphological model. At the same time, the texture mapping transformation method was used to do a fitting process for the leaf vein and the surface texture. On the basic of their morphological characteristics, a whole modeling process for camphor leaf has been realized ultimately.
