The US government must insist on China's full compliance with World Trade Organization (WTO) rules to help level the playing field for US stainless steel producers, according to Allegheny Technologies (ATI). In his keynote address at the Association for Iron and Steel Technology's AISTech 2013 conference and exposition in Pittsburgh, ATI's chairman, president and ceo Richard Harshman said the stainless industry has changed dramatically with the rise of Chinese manufacturing, which rose to 36% of global stainless production in 2010 from just 13% in 2005.
